The Power of Self Kindness - Group Talk - Week commencing 10th February 2025.

What is the one most crucial tool for losing weight successfully?

'Self-Compassion'

The practice of being kind and understanding to yourself, especially when you are feeling inadequate having failed, or are suffering.

Self compassion is 'not self-indulgence', feeling sorry for yourself' or 'self pity', self compassion is valuing ones own pursuit of happiness.

Our weight loss journeys are often challenging and furnished with lots of ups and downs. We can notably promote our overall well-being by practicing self-compassion where we acknowledge and accept our struggles and imperfections with compassion and sensitivity speaking to ourselves as we would speak to our friends with empathy and kindness.

We are all more than the numbers on the scales and the non scale victories (NSV0 are milestones that carry far more importance and motivation.

  • Body shape changes

  • Habit shifts

  • Comments from friends, colleagues, family

  • Change in clothes sizes

  • Changes in finger sizes

  • Changes in shoe sizes

  • Improved sleep

  • Improved mood

  • Improved energy

  • Better digestion

  • Improved strength

  • Improved mobility

  • Improved skin

  • Less pain

  • Improved Mental health

Its important that we 'focus on progress, not perfection.'

Self compassion reinforces healthy eating, creating healthy habits, in turn supporting our weight loss journeys.

One bad day doesn't change how far we have come, and every day that goes by our knowledge is deepening into the understanding of our personal journey, as time goes by we listen to our bodies and make changes accordingly, as we are doing this for ourselves and no one else, prioritising our physical and mental health as small changes add up, even on days when it doesn't feel like they do.

Our weight loss journeys are full of emotional and physical demands but bring a wealth of joy , pleasure and confidence.

'To be beautiful means to be yourself. You don't need to be accepted by others. You need to accept yourself.'
